"According to Dr. Milham's study just published in Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine, EMFs (in the form of dirty electricity), are contributing not only to obesity, but to a myriad of other health concerns which plague Americans in today's disease-ridden society.
Dr. Milham found evidence of the link between dirty electricity exposures and obesity and diabetes through analyzing worldwide health metric data. He noticed that many small islands known for having the highest BMIs (marker for obesity), worldwide in addition to the highest incidence of diabetes did not draw their energy supply from an electrical grid. An alternative source of energy was commonly used, a diesel generator set, known to be a major source of dirty electricity."

Obesity Epidemic and EMFs?
Obesity epidemic caused by EMF exposures in the home according to startling new research
I doubt there's anything in this. Note that it's based on observing natural populations rather than on a scientific breakthrough - the trouble with that is that electricity is the most vital prerequisite for development, period, and all the diseases he's citing are things that come to our notice due to development (whether it's due to those conditions being ignored in pre-electric societies, or whether it's caused by development.)
ReplyDeleteThen there's this from his bio: "Since falling prey to a violent reaction to his cell phone in 2002 he has spent the last 10 years researching the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) on health." Wow, a conspiracy theory from another age. Back in 2002, I didn't have a cellphone or home internet of any kind - wireless internet was barely on the horizon. If there was anything in the early-00s conspiracy theorising about cellphones, we'd know by now.
I wonder about the electronmagnetic stuff, they do say there are many unstudied health affects from it. They do have those theories about the bees and EMFs, I probably would have to take a look-see at all this. What was the violent reaction to the cell phone?
ReplyDeleteI say again - if 'violent reactions to cell phones' was a real phenomena we would have heard a LOT about it by now. I'd say cellphones became ubiquitous somewhere around 2000, does that sound right? (I didn't get one until late on in 2003, and had the sense that I was a relative latecomer). Whereas in 1990 they were fairly rare. In 2002 it was credible to believe that some people could be being significantly affected by cellphone use; by now, it's not credible, because if there was anything to it we'd be dropping like flies.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are theories about bees and EMFs. Meanwhile there is evidence about bees and insecticides.
