Why Do So Many Defend the Narcs?

Most of the world rushes to defend the narcissists! Why? One thing I noticed when I have tried to speak out against my abuse, is besides other ACONs who understood and a few close friends, most would defend the narcissists. "How could you say that about your mother?" "Maybe it's you!" A lifetime of being told one is evil, can be hard. It is what happened to me. When I cried about my abuse or sought to tell others, outside of the "Aunt who Loved me", everyone else told me I was in the wrong and the problem. Even my own father would tell me, "Maybe if you were a better daughter, your mother would treat you better.". Everything was always my fault.  One thing an ACON may have to face is deciding just to let anyone think whatever they want to think.

I have to admit I got tired of being told everything I said, did and felt "was wrong". One thing about me people will soon figure out, I do not follow the crowd. I have viewpoints that in many circles have made me the enemy. So I am used to this. A born again Christian with certain beliefs already gets the steam roller of mainstream public opinion coming to crush them. Even being a Christian in today's world means you are hated and Jesus Christ warned about this.

Narcissists always have the way paved for them and there is a WORLD full of people who defend them. Why do narcissists get the defense while their victims are treated like dirt? If anything a person who has dealt with abusers, is always told they are the ones who need to forgive, while the narcissist is never called out to repent or to treat people better. One sign of our narcissistic society is how they have dirtied the very name "victim" to mean something bad. Victims are told they are at fault and that they are bad people for being victims in the first place. You will see websites that will scream "Don't be a Victim!" which in essence means the perpetrators of human misery are to earn more respect. Victims are labeled as "bad", "weak" and "deserving of punishment" while their abusers get off free. Many narcs become narcs thinking "I'm going to be the winner, and 'get them', before they get me."

In the political and religious debate world, there is one thing that is used to shut down all conversation upon people who separate from the herd, and often that one thing is calling someone a HATER. The politically correct crowd uses this one all the time to shut up any messages about reality they do not want to hear. Instead of dealing with the message that is said, the main agenda is to label the person with the message as "bad". Because the controllers of this world are mostly narcissists and sociopaths themselves, I do believe there is an agenda, to prevent us underlings from having too honest of a discussion about evil. I can see "change agents" making sure open discussions about the wicked or what to do about them don't go too far. This is why I believe one well known narcissist tries to promote the idea of sympathy for narcissists. There are other websites too that promote that idea. I was on a Facebook group myself for ACONs where that idea was pushed. Anyone expressing any degree of anger [righteous] towards an abuser were told they were "wrong".

The same powers that be that use propaganda to sell people on the idea of endless wars in the Middle East to bankrupt America, also will use propaganda to make the way easier for the narcs and sociopaths. That means accountability is repressed and false forgiveness is promoted for the wicked in society. In a world where corruption rules, they want to keep people naive and thinking they are to blame when someone treats them bad. On a certain blog, I parted ways with, it concerned me deeply when there were articles written about the "poor suffering narcs" and "narcissists who can be cured". Every ACON blog admits lesser narcs and coverts exist but our subject matter is the ones without a conscience. These things worried me because I started thinking is this another place where victims will soon be shamed? Will this be another place ACONs are told to submit.

There are websites who will tell you to forgive your narcs. Therapists will say reconcile. Many will shame people telling them they will become eaten up with "hatred" and "bitterness" if they do not forgive and forget. Some even write that holding the no contact position is wrong.

I forgave over and over only to crawl back for another emotional beating, and to have my health problems maligned or to give her more opportunities for smear campaigns with more punch. I didn't want to become a hateful or bitter person. I have felt enough shame that it does hurt me even now, that I am the middle aged woman who doesn't have a family left and wasn't able to have her own family or children. If it wasn't for my loving husband and friends, I probably would have crawled in a hole long ago.

So when people say someone is "hateful" or "bitter" in exposing abuse or trying to bring accountability to narcissists or exposing the deep pain of attempted soul murder in my case that utterly destroyed my health, that deeply concerns me. Many ACONs can attest to this too, how we were beaten with the "forgive" stick which is a twin cousin to the "be positive or else" stick that is used in our society to give narcissists more power, more leeway and control. Remember if the serfs and victims can be kept silent and smiling, they are free to abuse even more.

So when someone wants to STIFLE ACONs it deeply concerns me.   Some mean well and have been deceived by the "be positive" or else and the "love everyone" no matter what messages this society pushes. Others have an agenda. The end result is the same to silence ACON blogs and those of us who have faced the abuse. This is a subject that even if you are anonymous takes guts to even dare approach in a public form. The voices exposing narcissistic abuse are few and far between. Even my blog is not entirely an ACON blog but deals with obesity and a multitude of other issues. How many ACON blogs are there? Not very many. So why all the pressure to shame and silence us? Why does everyone defend the narcs? Where is the sympathy for the victims? If anything most narcissists have no problem in this world getting their needs met.

ACONs are shamed for natural righteous anger and told they are unforgiving by many people who for whatever reason just don't get it. Many bloggers and others have dealt with this issue and have shown directly how a false message is given to forgive the unrepentant wicked.

Forgiveness Not What You think

"  However, forgiveness and the requirement to forgive are not necessarily what we have been led to believe they are by our abusers and their enablers, or by others who are either misinformed or trying to deceive us.  In the Bible, we are told to forgive as the Lord forgave us.(Colossians 3:13, Ephesians 4:32)  The Lord forgives us when we repent. (Ezekiel 33:10-20, Isaiah 55:6-7, Jeremiah 6:16-30 & 26:3, Luke 13:3 & 5, Acts 3:19)  He does NOT forgive those who are 'stiff-necked' , refuse to repent, and intend to continue in their sinful ways, and he does not expect us to, either.  By forgiving unremorseful evildoers, we are depriving them of the opportunity to repent and transform their lives."

This article helped me quite a bit in escaping the FALSE SHAME being handed to me over righteous anger in being abused. I suggest every ACON read it. Smakintosh too also made a good video detailing the difference in forgiveness especially when dealing with the unrepentant and wicked. I pray and hope a certain blogger watches this one:

I don't talk about this much, but I left my mother an avenue to repent. I do not believe it will ever be taken and I believe she is completely seared but this option was given her. If there had ever been any true repentance from any of the narcissists I went no contact with the story would have been very different.  So let it be known I gave her a chance. Same for the rest of them.

Here is what I wrote near the end: "I wish we had a real mother daughter relationship where I could have really talked to you and shared who I was with you. On this weekend of all of them, I get to watch people who had real mother/daughter relationships share them. You made this so it was never possible. I also have the pain of being infertile by age 19 and being too sick to ever to have children, on top of it. ...You never have opened up to me about anything, even in one letter from last year, you shared something from your childhood which should be something a daughter would naturally know, but I did not because you withheld everything from me. I have been doing better healthwise so do not want to put that in jeopardy. You and her really hurt me for years, and I am not coming back to "get back in line" to the same position I was in before. It's not happening. You can email me if you choose and actually start talking to me if you choose, otherwise I have to keep trying to work on my health and trying to find/bring happiness among people I feel good around."

She never started really talking to me and never will, and I know it. This never got a response, but I still got the fake cards with no messages beyond "Thinking of You" or "We are praying you come back to the family" and  "Love Mom" in her prefect penmanship, that only creeped me out more. I think about what I would do in this position, if I had a daughter who left me behind I wouldn't stalk her or send her creepy cards, I would try to talk things out.  A normal person would try and ask "What is wrong?".The above was an invitation for discourse, which she threw completely in the trash.

One thing about the narcissists too, is they don't want your love either. Before I went no contact, I spent time trying to break through to and get closer to many family members and I failed. Many were afraid to talk to me. Some seemed torn like my brother for a short time but under pressure his decision for my mother were obvious. For all the talk of "love and forgiveness", love is not wanted either by narcissists or even many of their enablers. They dislike soft feelings, so that compassion and love is being wasted most often on people who hate even the concept of true love. I of course believe one should not seek revenge, God makes this clear but to pour goblets of love and understanding on a narcissist is a waste of time. Many of us ACONS were told to love our narcissists into not abusing us. Some of us tried and our love was thrown in trash cans and used against us.

Very few realize this but I had the years [especially after 2002, when I became a Christian] when I tried very hard with my mother. I made her a glass painting of flowers on a window that still hangs in her back year, this is the time I started sending Aunt Scapegoat presents too which led one painting to be ditched in the closet. I went on visits even when it semi-endangered my health---certain temperatures I could not do but once went on a trip when it was in the mid 30s where I got several asthma attacks to visit my family and I tried. I wanted to get close, and well plenty of doors were slammed shut in my face. When my husband lost his career, it was even more game over during my second descent into poverty.  So when people lecture me that I was not "loving" enough to narcissists or did not give them enough of a chance, it feels like a complete sock in the gut.

In my case, and I know some ACONS face this, mine are too proud and disdainful of me to even fake apologies. They consider me so low and unworthy, none of them have ever apologized to me in my life, real or fake, so I'm not going to sit around expecting this "Come to Jesus" moment from any member of my seared family.  All I got was coldness and "get back in line" messages and false forgive and forget offers via fake cards that told me to get back in my scapegoat seat.

I think it is incomplete injustice to add to the burden of ACONs telling them they are "hateful" people for daring to protect themselves or abandon the role of being a made a worm by narcissists. Most ACONs who have undergone severe abuse, have already been told they were hateful and evil people. In fact some of us even suffered extreme spiritual and religious abuse, and were told we were the devil's children by the actual devil's children and were hell-bound wicked people, abused because we were undeserving of love and that we were essentially unlovable. So when someone says to me that we are to "love" and "forgive" narcissists and that we are hateful, unkind, judgmental people for not doing so, this triggers me back to those experiences. Just about everyone defends the narcs. Everyone wants to give empathy to them or will tell you too. Very few say have empathy for the victims.

Another thing is they will say to you "How dare you judge!". And the world will add to that saying, "You are misjudging your mother or other relative who is abusing you". They will tell you that you are wrong. Many of us had that dished out to us by the betraying bystanders for years This delayed my even going no contact again for years. I was told to be so sensitive to her needs while no one was to mine. I have asked myself many times why didn't anyone ever defend me? I was told to be a better person, lose weight, make more money and be more of what my mother wanted for her to love me. No one told her to ever change. So when someone says ACONs must bend to the narcissists and defer to them some more, the puke pail is going to get full.

There is a dynamic that disturbs me about this world, the most evil are defended and over while their victims are crushed to dust. A sad part of wicked human nature is the worship of power and who has more power then sociopaths and narcissists in this society? It isn't simple farmers and peaceful people with the world's awe but multimillionaire Wall-Street stockbrokers and celebrities famous for being mean and materialistic. This is why narcissistic alpha males and even females can draw in some many adoring sycophants. Look at our media where people like Charles Manson are actually celebrated. This is why the most wicked rule our world and become tyrants and dictators. This is why people are told to love and make excuses for the wicked constantly. Look at what some get away with, everyone tries to help the good ole boy and girl narcs, while non-narcs are locked up for years for 10 percent of their crimes.

I won't be silent. At this point if someone wants to say I am "hateful" or "bitter", I've had just about everything said about me online, it doesn't matter. One thing I know is true, I would have rather had a mother who loved me and who would have accepted my love too.  I wanted to be loved and give love and so did just about all ACONS on the planet. Just about the entire world defends the narcissists.  True love is telling the truth, not making excuses for evil or giving it a place.

Should We Feel Sorry For Narcs?

My answer in short is NO.

Lucky Otter differs.....

"I think it's time we stop bashing all narcissists"

God forbids vengeance and we are to avoid repaying evil for evil, but when it comes to narcissists and the wicked in this world, there are many who desire the enabling of evil. Anger in itself is not sinful, it depends on what you do with it. There is such a thing as righteous anger that is used to protect oneself and the innocent.

I wrote Lucky Otter the comment below in warning her. We have a world now where many tell good people they must love the unrepentant wicked and this is one reason why wicked people have been able to hurt so many people. Often the enablers even use this kind of logic telling people they were not loving enough to the narcissist. Every Scapegoat in the world was told these lies, that they were not kind and loving enough to their abusive narcissistic or sociopathic parents. We were told we were not kind enough, not forgiving enough. We were told by cruel narcissists we were mean bitter people even for drawing healthy boundaries.

One thing to consider is how many do excuse evil in this world using situational ethics, or telling the world, that the guy who just murdered a dozen people had a "hard home life". There is a point where a human being does make the choice for good or evil and in the case of malignant narcs I believe they have seared their consciences making the decisions for evil. Yes there are narcissists who are lower down the spectrum who perhaps could get help or turn to God, but most blogs that write about narcissism make for those allowances.

I am concerned about Lucky Otter's defenses of narcissists, it has gotten to the point, I am going to have to unlink her blog from this one. It is something that has been troubling me for awhile. I like and care about Lucky Otter especially since she is a fellow Aspie but I do not want anyone on this blog led to bad places emotionally or psychologically.

My religious beliefs about evil which are rooted in being a born again Christian,  are on a different page from Otter's. My beliefs about narcissism and what should be done biblically when it comes to the wicked also are completely different. The call to love, forgive [with no repentance from their end] and feel sorry for the "abused little narcs" for me is the last straw. This is asking people to be doormats and abused more by evil. I am going to pray and hope she is shown the truth about wicked people. Her beliefs concern me even for her own sake, in being led to a place where she is to feel sorry for narcs or whom even smakintosh once warned in one of his videos about "Hugging the Vampires."

Lucky Otter, I can't hug the vampires, or feel sorry for the narcs. I do not believe God mandates this. I believe many false churches and no I am not pointing at your specific type of church but a lot of them out there are teaching people to endorse, enable, excuse evil. Jesus called the evil VIPERS, he didn't hold back. He said exactly what they were in the book of Matthew 23:33:

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

I wrote this comment on Lucky Otter's blog:

I disagree with you here. If anything the entire world is wrapped about defending the feelings of the narc. If anything every institution takes up for the narcs as scapegoats get smashed down again and again. I have gotten smashed down for narcs over and over, while no one cared about how I felt. A narc that wants help and wants to change in my book isn’t even a malignant narc, that is someone with fleas or borderline personality disorder or other spiritual problems but not a narc or what I call in Christian spiritual terms. “SEARED” and “REPROBATE”. Show me a narc who has REALLY REPENTED. If they have then they are not a sociopath and most likely not a malignant narcissist. False churches will teach enabling of the evil. Otter, I mean what I say about that, there are many invested in desiring the evil is enabled.

Social Pressures

Another therapist has backed up my autism. I told her that socially things feel hard. While I have my close friends, many of whom are long distance, and a couple friends here, socially I am wore out. It is hard to explain. I don't want to try anymore.  People today kind of frighten me. There was a recent run in with a smear campaign and running away from a toxic person that triggered me back to my family. Even now I am worried about possible smear campaigns and if this person had gotten others to think badly of me. I should have listened more to my intuition which was strong from the start. The social dynamics hurt me. The first minute I got that dark feeling inside, I should have ran for the hills.

For an Aspie, when we get enemies, they can turn people against us easily. We are the "eccentrics", the "weirdos".  No one comes to get our side of the story. I wonder why no one is saying to me, "So and so shouldn't have treated you that way" and I'm a little bugged about it.  Do they see me as the one in the wrong? Did she turn everyone to her side? If anyone thinks I am paranoid, remember I'm the one with the mother who turned an entire family against me.

If someone doesn't like us, because we are strange and different, they can tip the scale against us even far faster.  Often if anything even good people will leave Aspies out of social intrigues. Neurotypicals talk and tell every each other whats what, while you sit there stupid in the dark. Who are we going to talk to? It is something I have noticed. One of the worse thing about being Aspie is you never know what in the hell is going on behind the scenes. Lack of social information makes everything harder.

Sometimes I am tired of having to "cloak". What is "cloaking" but when an Aspie acts more socially normal. While Aspie Doc Martin will tell people to shut up on that English TV show, many Aspies we have to censor  so much. We are told we "feel everything" "too much". My life has been dampening down myself for so many years. I often wonder what would happen to my world if I told everyone exactly what I thought, Would I live through the day? LOL I may draw a cartoon where Budgie walks around saying exactly what she thinks.

What if you are an Aspie that has a high enough IQ to know that you just can't fit in and never will. Maybe I should stop beating my head against the social wall. Why don't I ever meet fellow Aspies in real life? My husband has some traits which helps. I think of my times with social groups, where things ebb and flow so naturally for them, and I have to think who can I talk to one on one? Do I look weird sitting here and waiting in this chair? Do I seem over eager? The sicker I've gotten the constant self analysis and trying to make it socially has gotten harder. Among the "normals" I feel lost.

There are times I wake up haunted thinking, "My goodness, even my own family hated me!". I think children should be taken away from mothers' who don't love them, the affect on one's life is just as bad if they are beating you to a pulp all day long. Of course some do both. One thing that can haunt an Aspies is the level of social rejection that comes with being an Aspie. Some of these issues have affected me since I was a teenager. Does one want to spend their life on their knees going "Please like me?". Didn't the narcissists already take advantage of that? That is definitely one way the predators can come and take a chomp out of you. Today I'm not so worried about being liked anymore but I don't think I will ever feel at home in this world.

One thing as I have aged, cloaking is getting hard to do. I'm flunking it. I also am realizing the glory days of "coming into my own" socially probably isn't going to happen. The world acts like autism and Aspergers ends for the Aspie once they come of age, but no it is life-long. How does one grow old while being autistic? I wish someone would write a book become an old person who is autistic. What happens to us? The older you get, the harder it gets because you are too tired to do the right kind of social small talk. You even get confused as the social dance speeds up around you and you slow down.

I seem to irritate people without wanting to all the time. I know they find me too anxious, too intense, too mind focused. What if "being you" bothers people? What if you feel like you've had to censor so much of yourself? What if people are more prone to listen to mean narcissists about you and your Aspergers seems to help them out? Why are these people always believed and no one ever asks me?  After all you are that weird, eccentric fat woman, they are a narcissist or person of higher status who is "well-liked". Aspies are more vulnerable to becoming narcissist targets. If someone is different in the room via a disability, autism, or some other factor, narcissists will use it.

I left a group recently where I realized I was not being valued and the new person in charge, said cruel things like "You are holding this group back". She would peer out at the group and make insults about those who "have not recovered" and I noticed she was doing this multiple times and staring at me. There seemed to be a taint of fat hatred beneath this, a kind of "why haven't you lost weight" message even though the group knew about my severe rare health conditions.

Trained in "think positive" ethos and career directed, a fat Aspie middled aged woman with multiple chronic disorders was anathema to her. This was night and day from the people who ran this particular group before, who were essentially at their core, KIND PEOPLE.

I would challenge her, after all I am housebound 6 or more months out of the year, but somehow everything going wrong was my fault even though I wasn't there more then half the time. I realized with horror, there I was being scapegoated again, and already a few people were treating me "different" which gave me intense triggering. One guy who I always had been friendly with ignored me the day I saw him at a grocery store. So I basically walked away because especially with the health problems I have now, I don't need the stress. I spoke up for myself, but it seemed to never help. I knew when I felt on edge and was going "sarcastic" to "fight" back, it was time to walk and slam the door shut. I don't know if she was a narc, and our world views may simply have been in collision but she may even be reading this one day because I told a few people about this blog but I knew I couldn't sit there and tolerate someone treating me that way anymore. It made me very sad as I had been part of this group for 4-5 years and used to volunteer and do presentations for them.

Going NC will change your outlook and what you are willing to tolerate. It definitely has with me. It can be a troubling time as you seek to adjust how you deal with the world. Already as an Aspie, I know I get tired from how society runs, but then I added this, avoiding narcs and people who are negative to me. You want to follow general rules, if you feel on edge around someone, or ignored or devalued or not listened to, listen to those red flags. I know I have the freedom to walk from negative people being disabled but some of you are stuck with them at work. In that case freeze them out as much as you can and let them know as little as possible about you.

I try to soften all the rough edges but I get tired, and when the health is bothering me, my cloaking and the rest fails. Around some neurotypicals  I often feel on edge. if I am tired or in pain, I am scared of them seeing it and thinking badly of me. It seems I have to always take a file to my rough edges around neurotypicals. Maybe I am wasting my time and should let everything hang out.  Some of my inner rules are, "Don't be too negative, Make sure not to go on too long about an certain topics, hide your anxiety, don't ask too many nosy questions, and so forth and so on.

I am going to take the girl with curly hair advice above. I don't want to spent the rest of my life worrying about pleasing people or fitting in or walking on extreme neurotypical eggshells. I don't fit in and I may as well run with it at this old age and date. I am not here to kiss any more narcissist butt.

What if you are an Aspie that has a high enough IQ to know that you just can't fit in and never will. It feels painful. I have friends, one thing about me, and I believe this of Aspies, when we get friends, we become very close. Aspies just "do" friendship very differently. However in the social world, I'm feeling more uncomfortable. The timing of going no contact with my entire family three weeks ago and then having a negative social experience in my local world, has made my social anxiety very high recently.

Aspergers and Me

Fake Nice

In my case, not my friends, but neighbors, family friends, etc. She wouldn't be that nice to me either, neutral in front of some which made it less likely for me to be believed. That is one thing with narcissists, if you have parents who CHANGE for company, let that be a red flag!

Avoiding Predators

How I’m learning how NOT to be a predator magnet!

“No” is a complete sentence.

I don’t always have to defend myself or my choices. If you get caught up defending your valid life choices, the bully is going to back you in a corner demanding you explain yourself. Nope. I don’t need to explain a thing! Bullies want a reaction and they want you to keep talking. Sometimes, moving on without a word is the smartest response. Furthermore, engaging and defending yourself makes you seem weaker because you care too much about what others say rather than remaining confident in your own truth. The more you say, they more a bully can find to pick on.

I need to STOP telling people too much too soon. Bullies will take your insecurities and run with them! And the more you tell people, the more they have to work with when they want to mock, stalk or prey on you. People with poor boundaries violate their own privacy by giving away too much information which shows predators that they are easy targets.

I need to practice self-control. Instead of letting myself get caught up in romance, I need to limit myself and give myself time to think instead of rushing in. The romantic predator is hoping to overwhelm you and push you into a relationship to get you hooked before you know what is going on.

I need to beware of making hasty decisions–especially if someone is pushing me–and stop being afraid to ask questions.

I need to recognize my needs and desires and speak up for them. Predators want an easy target. If you start being a “pain” and asking for equal rights, they are probably going to move to someone less difficult to control. Plus, if I don’t know what I want, how am I going to meet the right people?

I need to stop being mousy and start being bold."

In my life, there has been too many predators. If you live in a bad neighborhood or a ghetto, you know what it is like to be sized up and what it is like for the wolves to be staring you down, in making the decision to take a bite or rob you. You know what it is to hide or run. One learns to live by instinct almost in surviving. Most people in all poor areas, are ordinary people just trying to survive and feed their kids, but in some areas especially taken over by gangs and the drug trade, life can be very dangerous. I lived in that danger. Predators abounded.

American social decay and police state catches up in the inner city, and with all these riots, some anxiety gets in the pot of my stomach. In my opinion the powers that be are agitating for racial hatred for police state crackdowns and destruction of civil rights. The inner cities felt the destruction of the USA economy first. The billion dollar "drug wars" have turned our inner cities into "combat zones" where the police state rules completely.

As I have written before I lived in a place bad enough to hear gunshots at night, and gangs posturing and "flashing colors". This included seeing homeless people sleeping on ledges and with their trash bags in shopping carts and others shoved up on the back of police cars. Drug dealing was rampant. This wasn't the first bad neighborhood I had lived in. My apartment in another neighborhood was a few doors down from a crack-house in my old college town but this one was the worse.

While my present neighborhood is immediately safe with the accompanying expensive rent, I live only 5-6 miles from another "bad neighborhood". If something goes wrong here, my car will be packed with my computers, pills, medical equipment and clothes and we will be driving away ahead of time. In my life, there has been too high of a taste of the streets to know how bad things can get. A lifetime of PTSD probably has put me perhaps on too high alert. We are too poor to move further into the country for cheaper rent but where one is more dependent on a good car and I know mentally and physically I can't handle living in a "tough" neighborhood, so we pay big rent that is actually near half our income.

One life decision I have made is I will never live in a dangerous place again, even if this means selling everything I own and renting a room in the smallest out of the way town I can find. I know I couldn't survive what I went through before again.

One thing I hated about living in some of these places especially the worse, is I never could go out and feel vulnerable or weak, you had to put your "hard face" on to survive, and almost an air, of "I don't give a crap" to be left alone.  My work was with violent and troubled teens and I had no illusions about the streets. A different code ruled them. This gave me more streets smarts to survive then ordinary people but it was very rough. I have seen things that well, changed me. A carpet of cockroaches, doors sold for drugs, perhaps one day I will write about more of these things.

Social cohesion and friendliness is gone. During my years there I grew rather "hard" like the people I lived around. When I escaped to the small town, it was like dying and going to heaven, just for the very fact of being able to walk down the street without being mugged.  It was an impossible feeling to even explain to people. The peace I found there was so important. Later we would be forced to move but I still miss the quiet, the more relaxed and less career obsessed people, and the lower number of yuppies. This area has its positives, but I still miss the more rural life, though economically things crashed.

One hideous lesson I learned in dealing with street criminals and other scumbucket vagabonds, was NEVER SHOW FEAR. Since I worked with troubled youth with a few known sociopaths in the mix, my street smarts and radar was higher and I definitely had learned not to display fear there too. I had to put all the rules in force that are listed above. Self control, never show fear, speaking up for myself and being bold ruled my universe.

My job was such that if I cracked it would have been very bad for me. Sometimes lately I have had thoughts that I ended up in that work, because my employers not only wanted someone big, the teens would be less likely to beat up, but my life long experience of dealing with sociopaths? You must remember with my work in inner city schools, a juvenile home and a residential home for violent youth, many co-workers did crack up. They'd break down in tears, they'd get jumped and beaten up. They'd lose control. One coworker actually had head injuries that put her into the hospital for three months after I left that job. To do the work, we did especially at my last job, you had to use wits to avoid endless tragedies and danger.

There are times in my life, where I have wished I could be what I call a "normal" person. They are happy. They didn't spent years worrying about parents who would beat them or who were sociopaths. They never had a thousand yard stare or nightmares for 15 years. They have families who love them. They have normal jobs, and homes, and lives. It's hard to explain those feelings. They didn't spend years of their life being prey for sociopathic narcs or living in neighborhoods so dangerous they'd wonder if they'd survive. To be frank, one reason I know I got so sick, is trauma. Outrunning and outwitting an endless list of predators frankly wore me out. Today I am tired. There are times I am tempted to become a complete hermit and never leave the apt again. I'm housebound enough as it is.

One way I dealt with the predators in my neighborhood was to let them think I was crazier then they were. I was probably crazy since I had just gained 400lbs. I remember the day this guy tried to rob me of the 15 bucks I had on me down at the bus station, and how I not caring about guns, knives or weapons--he hadn't displayed one yet but was working on me via coercion.  I actually screamed, "I'm poorer then dirt you #^($$ leave me alone!" along with endless cuss words. I got so mad that in front of 10 people waiting at the bus stop I picked up a metal trashcan like the Hulk, and threw it across the parking lot, screaming  along the way. After that display no one bothered me for money the whole next year.

My neighborhood was so bad, I could have gotten easily raped, robbed or murdered. It was "watch your back time" all the time. Men did follow me in twos most often to try and set me up. I would run into public places to avoid them. I heard two men discuss robbing me in Spanish. They didn't know I knew their language enough to get the gist and to clear out of dodge. I was jumped and had to fight to at least twice but this doesn't explain the dozens of smaller interactions, being grabbed on the arm, being asked to be a customer for drugs, beggars who were on the line between robbers and "asking". One learns the lesson of the streets and weirdly they are applicable to your evil narcissist or sociopath sitting prettily in their suburban home. Be wary of someone who approaches you with a smile or asks to help, at the big city bus-stop, some people would swarm you asking to carry your bags to steal them! Robbers will caste people, and even come up asking for directions and smiling. Most people think they just come up punch you and run, a few do, but most size you up first.

I had to develop "rules" to deal with my family and mother. Like the above experiences, I had to learn to "never show fear". Lately I have been thinking about that one, why on earth was I visiting people who scared me to the point, I lived in deadly fear of having an asthma attack around or having any "weakness"? I had my times where I had to be bold, and not mousy. One thing about my family, I did tell them off a few times, but it bounced off the wall and meant nothing but at least I defended myself to get away.

Dealing with my parents was a primer in surviving the street criminals I would face. My mother's smiles couldn't be trusted and I learned to know when I was being lied to.  Working at the group home, lies flowed like a river. Predators don't care and this is why my 6 figures parents had no qualms about letting their daughter almost die in the inner city. I know my father did not protect me at all or even treat me like a young woman forcing me to go into such dangerous work to pay my rent and keep off the streets. It saddens me that so much of my life was dealing with people who lacked consciences and trying to survive around them. The me of today would never do the work I did before.  Psychologically there must have been some process at work in me where in my "avoiding the predators" around me, as a child, I entered into the same situation in the work world. I believe I had altruism and good intentions in becoming an art teacher of course.

The more I have studied narcissism and sociopathy, it has been interesting. As an Aspie, I have to admit the competitiveness and status focus of neurotypical society nauseates me. Aspies want peaceful lives reading their books and doing their interests. We don't want to watch out for people who want to get over. We are not into competing. We tire of people who see us as targets. Let me just be frank being Aspie among "getting over" neurotypicals sucks eggs.  My sickening family with it's constant games of competition and showing off, was the last family I should have been raised with. Wolves and sharks make us all miserable. I am learning to also listen to that uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach too, read the book "The Gift of Fear". Intuition will help you "see" predators and get away. I had someone recently I knew I had to get away from. She would smile and "act nice" but I was listening to those feelings inside, that turned out to be right.

I have better radar for predators and they come in all forms. I think the best thing is to avoid people like this as much as possible but the advice in the article above is good advice. Don't over-share with them, don't think you owe them anything, be cautious, control your emotions around them and be bold in making your needs met. My top advice of course is avoid them at all costs and go no contact immediately when one has come around you.

My Message to an Obesity Researcher

People Living With Obesity Need a Voice

"Nothing will change until they stop calling fat people liars, and the profit motive behind the failed answers is not held as the highest priority. I spent 17 years trying to find out why I was so overweight and this means years of suffering and almost dying of leg infections before finding out I had Lipedema Stage IV which is a rare fat disorder. The doctors even had discovered the endless "fatty tumors" throughout my body as early as 2000. My blog was started even to find out what was wrong with me 5 years ago and I achieved that goal. The diets are failing, many of us eat normal amounts of calories--I track all my food and follow a nutritionist and we are still fat and judged by society. They think everyone's body works the same. Nothing will change for the better until the stigma is removed and fat people are BELIEVED."

A Reminder

I got this one off one of my Lipedema health support boards. It is an essential reminder.
