Fire on Babylon

I wonder if Sinead O' Connor had a narcissistic mother?

She took my father from my life
Took my sisters and brothers on
I watched her torturing my child
Feeble, I was then but now I'm grown
Fire on Babylon
Oh yes, the change has come
Fire on Babylon
Fire, fire
Fire
She's taken everything I liked
She's taken every lover on
And all along she gave me lies
Just to make me think I loved her
Fire on Babylon
Oh yes, the change has come
Look what she did to her son

Fire, fire
Fire on
Life's backwards, life's backwards
People turn around
The house is burned, the house is burned
The children are gone
Fire, fire
Fire on Babylon
Oh yes, the change has come
Fire on Babylon
Fire, fire
Fire
Fire on Babylon
Oh yes, the change has come
Look what she did to her son
Look what she did to her son
Fire, fire
Fire, fire
Fire
Fire on Babylon
Fire on Babylon

  2. WOW! PERFCT, Peep!
Look at what they did to *all* of us....but wait!
"Those kinds of things don't happen in THESE kinds of families!"

Is it any wonder we end up so horribly isolated and alone? Is it any wonder we'll take on the shroud of "problem in the family" without the slightest protest<when we're trying to PLEASE THEM?!
Any wonder why, when we stop trying to "please them" it's so hard to truly recognize and embrace the Reality it was NEVER us?!

Thank you! And I'd bet YES, she grew up CB Parented.

    1. I have loved this song since it came out {I know what Babylon means even in a religious sense} but didn't realize why, and in examining the lyrics now I know why. Yes look what they did to all of us. We took on the mantle of being the "problem" as they spread their evil. You will find today's article interesting about Aunt Confusion. Some will be shocked that I have people with such parallels between both sides of the family. I have more to write about sister as well too later. I'm done with the PLEASING. They failed to PLEASE ME. Yes she grew up CB parented. That article Q above answered so many questions. So wonder this was my favorite singer by college!

  3. Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Yes her mother sounded like a narc. At least she was not around to torture her for too long. I feel bad that she had to leave her children with her. [probably when she was trying to start her career and getting situated I am guessing] Yes that is in the song too.

  4. Per Wikipedia, the song Fire on Babylon is about the effects of her own child abuse. She was abused frequently while living with her mother following her parents divorce. Susanna
