Middle Class No Longer in the Majority
Middle Class No Longer in the Majority
For years people warned the middle class was dying and the chasm between the haves and have nots was growing. Well the middle has already now disappeared. There's rich and there's poor to simplify things. When decent jobs disappeared so did possibilities to enter the middle class. Seven dollars an hour isn't going to cut it anymore. Years ago, people who worked in my husband's field were comfortably middle class, now things are far lower. It's hard to even tell a young person what they should study so many things are failing to provide a decent standard of living. Yes America is becoming more like Brazil everyday with a thin sliver of oligarchy over the suffering poor multitudes. Jobs are more dead end then ever, leading to an endless poverty window. Now if only the prices matched all the low pay.

I was just listening to a radio show where it was reported that a EMT Worker makes between 31-32 K a year.
ReplyDeleteThat is beneath the poverty level in NYC especially in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
People entrusted to save people lives should at least make a middle class living.
That is definitely below the poverty level. Jobs make joke wages. When I was looking at work for husband--trying to find more remote at home work...the jobs all pay LESS and same as the 1990s. I think they should be making a middle class living. Now think about this they probably have a 300-400 dollar bill a month for health insurance added to that. I think it is criminal what many people are being paid. The prices should be more aligned with what people actually live on.
DeleteRepublicans can kiss my butt being against hikes in minimum wage. They raised it all the time to match the cost of living. I swear they want everyone living in modern favelas or something. I hate both parties but my ire for them is higher.
DeleteWe are told over here that to look at it this way: If your wages are higher than the world average, then you are doing well. And that makes no sense, when the cost of living is so much higher here than most places on the planet.
ReplyDeleteI get sick of the globalist sheeps telling me how great life is in America and horrible beyond belief in the third world. Sure sometimes they have famine and less modern technology though one thing they won't tell you in the USA is South America and Africa is covered in skyscrapers and has computers all over the place and smart cards. They have the populace believing everyone in the world is still living in shacks and the bush which is a lie. I had this interest of going to look at foreign websites to see what the rest of the world was really like. The cost of living is insane, and that makes things different. At least elsewhere on the planet, they have close by kinfolk, villages, and have knowledge to hunt, fish etc well except the ones who may have been enslaved in factories and trafficked.
