Real Mexican Food Is Healthier

I went out to eat with husband earlier today, and I always thought, every time one gets a real version of an ethnic food, whether it is Italian or Mexican--, the "real version" is always healthier. We ate at a taquiera where all the menu is in both Spanish and English. I can read a lot of Spanish in my case. My husband says Americans pour way too much cheese on everything. The above, has small amounts of meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, cilantro, lemon and corn tortillas.

  2. Yes I bet it is really good down there. I always wanted to try real Texas barbecue but never have been to Texas. I don't bother with Americanized Mexican food because the real thing is so much better.

  3. As a diabetic, cheese is my go-to snack. Rice tends to raise my blood sugar. Beans don't impact it very much. I get my fajitas without tortillas. The way I make a lot of food more filling is by putting a handful of grated cheese on top of it so I don't end up snacking later.
Everyone's different. Saturated fat isn't really the villain that the diet industry likes to make it out to be. However, people with certain conditions may not be able to digest fats as well. I'm certainly not trying to tell anyone what to do.

  4. Every body is different. If I go too high on the meat and protein, I can play with getting kidney stones. I think if you can go low carb youll be better off. I can only eat so much rice myself and can only eat the vegan cheese or lactose free stuff. I think saturated fat has a place, but be careful to get good meats. There is a lot of meat out there that if I ate it I would feel ill, something seems to be wrong with it too. One of my biggest culprits is pork. [dried out ham and rest I'm ok with but I have only eat twos pork chop in 3 years due to some of these problems. Yes different conditions will affect this stuff. I do use Greek yogurt [plain, the sweetened kind jacked my sugars too much] probably the way you do cheese. I also am eating dried seaweed, as a go to to kill hunger pain since it is low in calories, but it is higher in salt so have to be careful.
