Jordyn Duggar: Little Lost Girl
I've always considered the Duggar parents [remember they are the ultra-fundamentalist Dominionist family with 19 children on TLC to be narcissists. Here you see the mother, Michelle Duggar with one of her youngest daughters, Jordyn. You can tell the girl, is thinking, "Who is this lady?" What kind of a bond can someone with 19 kids really form with each one?
In this girl's case she seems to be the one who lacks a bond with either parent. She may fit the "lost child" criteria spoken of on some ACON boards. This is where a child is not singled out as a scapegoat or as a golden child but simply IGNORED. It's scary how Michelle Duggar as she destroys her children's futures and offers them no real education, always praises the daughters for "being good helpers" and never knows anything specific about them.
Those children became trophies to be shown off. I notice "Mommy" has the fancy "Christmas lights" necklace on, while Jordyn's clothes on her own birthday are much more plain. Jordyn is one girl on the show that always looks sad. Us, ACONs can definitely relate to that emotion. When children are objects to narcissists it shows.

That poor child has a thousand yard stare.
ReplyDeleteYeah she does. I feel so sorry for her. You can tell and this is true of at least several of her siblings that they are very lost in the crowd. I hope by the time she comes of age, the her parent's narcissitic control of the "adult" children has loosened and she will be more free.
DeleteI've never understood why mainstream magazines seemed to idolize them and be charmed by them, almost, like they were quaint instead of creepy. Or is it just that they're of interest because they're so creepy? The look on that kid's face and the matching blank look on the mother's face is frightening. Everything about the parents screams malignant narcissist.
ReplyDeleteYes read up on Bill Gothard that is the cult they are in, ATI, it's scary stuff. I don't find them quaint. I am not sure the parents realize most people watch the show to "snark" on it, and that it is like watching a "sideshow". I think it gives Christians a bad name [I see them as in a legalistic cult] Yes the blank looks are scary. I knew the mother especially and I believe if of both Jim Bob and Michelle are malignant narcissists from when one son years ago fell in an orchestra pit, and she was smiling and still taking pictures. Look at 1:29 especially. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93x0LIEHvj0
DeleteThe mom looks inhuman. And the father looks just downright evil. I didn't realize it was that people were snarking, but I guess that makes sense. Reality tv is always about the audience getting to watch and judge and feel better about themselves as a result.
DeleteThere is one snark site that was called Free Jinger. I read over there but don't post. They were all hopeful that Jinger who had some spunk would "escape" from the family. She's moved the farthest away at least but so far the son in laws have remained under the control of her father. I agree about reality TV being like the side show.
DeleteI remember now why I thought people found them quaint - the Duggars also used to appear regularly on the cover of magazines like People and Us - this was before the whole sexual abuse discovery - depicted positively as I recall. As though they represented a simpler, gentler time, as opposed to a time when women esp, but really everyone was a slave to a sick cult. Yes, though, side show is exactly right, side show with a side of fake drama.
ReplyDeleteYes when the Josh stuff was exposed it showed how sick the whole family was, I always have thought that was just the tip of the ice berg and where did Josh learn it from if you get my drift? It was creepy to watch at 27 year old man do what "daddy" told him and go to "punishment" bible camp. Yeah no simple gentler time not at all.
DeleteI was a Lost Child. I think she's doing a form of Grey Rocking and either doesn't know how to react or is not reacting because she knows she's not supposed to enjoy herself.
ReplyDeleteAll her mom's comments are about how "good" she is at doing as she's told not how it's her birthday and she should be having fun. "she loves babies" - probably because they don't put these restrictive expectations on her. With me it was animals, you attach to that which doesn't hurt you.
I get the feeling if she'd so much as gone "Yay it's my birthday!" and smiled she'd have gotten into trouble over it.
The news is getting crazy scary now - Wish there were a way to go NC with an MN President without leaving the country, but I don't think it's possible. :(
