Another blast from the past where one could eat rich food like lard [a food I definitely avoid!] and not grow ultra-obese like now! This could be a mock-up, but if you read books from the old days or seen old cookbooks, you know they used lard in many things.
My grandmother used to serve us fried salt pork......and I am pretty sure she used lard in her pie crusts
ReplyDeleteI use lard in pie crusts. Lard is all natural. Shortening is not.
ReplyDeleteI have had pie made the old way they taste much better. I agree with you on this.
