Double-Message Magazines

Picture seen on Fat Logic

Women's magazine's always had the pictures of chocolate cake and rich desserts next to the diet articles. Is there any wonder that America is schizophrenic when it comes to weight? Look at Dr. Oz's magazine, there are two thin people eating a cake and whipped cream and this is supposed to be a "health" magazine? Sure occasional desserts are okay but this is a guy who lectures people about being "fat" constantly. Giada the very thin oddly shaped chef seems to be gritting her big teeth in inner protest.

  1. Dear Peeps and Friends, it seems the most idiotic literature is targeted toward women, as we get ready to pay for sensible groceries. Meanwhile, the stupid crap pandered to men, is in racks somewhere on the far end of aisle #7. i see the mags for both sexes piled on a laundermat table - ugh, whaddabuncha boring drivel! Glad i bring my phone, there's plenty of edifying things to read and listen to, on the web. Thank You Lord Jesus for the internet ;)

    1. I would die of boredom too if resigned to the mainstream magazines. Sometimes you can find a decent recipe, RARELY but the rest is the same boring nonsense, you are so correct. Imagine a doctor magazine that actually did articles on things like Lipedema instead of the usual Oprah Weight Loss garbage.

  2. So you guys think that advertisers and publishers would do better by approaching their subject by appealing to the common sense of your average reader. Pull this leg and it plays jingle bells.

  3. Looking at Giada's picture all I think is that this cake can't be good, makes your head grow out of proportion.

    1. Her head doesn't match her body. I have the theory she has some kind of Little People syndrome. [dwarfism] and her parents got that therapy where they grow out the leg bones to make them taller. [That's intensive stuff]
