Ollie's reference to them as "terminators" and "death stars" nails it for me. Nothing touches them. There is no heart to prick or to "get through to". It took me forever to accept this. He nails it that narcissism is indeed the weapon of choice.
I love this video........This is a post on my blog that contains the newspaper clippings of my mother sixties era fiasco. Yet even with this proof she denied it happened until the day they shoved dirt over her coffin. http://rumblestripq.blogspot.com/2013/06/q-went-to-shit-and-hogs-ate-him.html
Yes this was a good video. Thanks for sharing the articles, wow about her denials. How old were you during this time? Was she in jail for any period of time. Interesting they convicted her "lover?" at the time. The fact he is so young compared to her stands out to me.
I was 8 when it happened. She was in jail about 6 weeks (from Thanksgiving until christmas). It was a guy that followed my then 15 year old sister home. The guy they robbed was my father's boss. So in one fell swoop she set one guy up to be robbed and murdered, one guy up to spend the next 14 years in prison, my father lost his job, and ultimately committed suicide, which set me up for a life of PTSD. And according to her I smoked some pot and dreamed it all up in a marijuana induced haze.
I never saw her press before this explains a lot. I think today she probably would be in jail, and in 60s they were less likely to convict a woman. It is horrible she was this evil being part of a robbery and murder. They had to know he carried large amounts of money and I read that he worked with her husband [your father's boss]. She destroyed your father's life killing his boss. Your father probably was beyond devastated watching her get off scott-free. I take it he was divorced from her by then since she was cavorting with the 21 year old. That is a lot younger you know, definitely she was manipulating that guy to do her dirty work and having him go to prison. Her telling you that you imagined all this in a pot induced haze is just more gaslighting. Don't worry about hijacking the thread. This is helping me understand what happened. The loss of your father had to be so horrible. Yes PTSD and as a kid, did they tell you why Mom was in jail? Did you know as an 8 year old Mom could be a murderer?
Nah, he worked himself half to death to pay for her lawyers etc. After he hocked himself to the hilt to get her acquitted, she dumped him for some other guy. That's what pushed him over the edge and is to me the baffling part he played in his own death. I knew what was going on from the beginning. I was on TV a couple of times after we spilled out of the courtroom and it ended up on local television. This was in the 60's and a pretty big deal locally. Now I don't think many people would notice. Which made her denials of any of it happening particularly infuriating.
OMG, he stayed with her even through all that. Did he falsely believe she was innocent? I bet he figured out she was not and realized he had destroyed his life going into hock and this may be part of what drove him to suicide. I am glad they did not keep it secret from you and you knew what was happening. I hope you were not bullied at school or anything for having a would be murderer [actual murderer] for a mother. Her denials would sicken me. So sorry for what you have been through.
Years ago when I was still friends with a MN we were out shopping. She was on a usual tirade with a retail worker and I sat down to read some magazines spread out. I opened the Reader's Digest article "Psychopaths among us". I got to read the whole article while she was harassing the poor girl and when she was done I asked if she wanted to read the article. I was sure she would she was a social worker and this was very interesting (it got my attention). I didn't know this stuff and I thought she would read it and we would discuss it. She usually does when I found interesting articles. She wouldn't even look at it and escaped me so that I had to chase after her. lol
That is scary, yeah she didn't want you reading that article. Maybe she is one that knew something was wrong with her in some far reaches of her brain!
Yeah I know. And I tell you she was the type to read everything! And we would discuss everything, stuff we have read, and that what was exactly what she was like. She loves knowledge, called it power.
Except that one article, she ran like crazy! Gosh do you think we have found a way to diagnose NPD?
LOL I think it may be a good way to diagnose too. My sister ran from narcissism articles I sent her in reference to mother. Not one solid word about any of them. Of course she told me she refused to read the last NC letter [copy] I sent to both her and mother. Guess that's way to know when we have hit home.

ReplyDeleteI swear I am not trying to hi jack your thread. I always talk about it, but I didn't know if you ever saw her press.
