Looks like the cartoons end in the 1980s, the scene now would be different. In my neck of the woods an abandoned strip mall? A few tourist shops going the opposite direction?
Interesting to note that Crumb, his fellow cartoonist wife,and their daughter, moved to a small village in southern France in 1991. They didn't care for the changes they were seeing.
I used to read some Crumb comics though I had to screen out the nasty sex stuff which could get gross. Yeah they left yes that long ago and they did comics about living in their little French village. They did leave over changes they did not like.
