Abuser

This blogger is an atheist but I find some of his videos hard-hitting, this one definitely puts the negative view of God, especially in the evangelical and fundamentalist branches of Christianity on display. I asked myself as I was deconverting, "How can there be true love and respect between two beings when one is under duress and "threatened" with hell?

  1. Wow...that was powerful. I think the MISUSE of faith is where the resemblance is, though. I don't think it's intrinsic. Nothing recorded in the words of Christ to make me believe he'd support abuse, bigotry and hatred. He advocated loving your enemies even...never mind your partner.

    1. I agree about the misuse of faith too. I am no longer a Christian but do have some reverence still for the good things from humanity that made into the bible, good and moral teachings of Jesus like helping the poor, story and Good Samaritan etc. Hell I consider a major problem with it's 'threats' under duress.

  2. Dear Peeps, just watched this video, aside the fact that DarkMatter has an agenda as wide as an
LA freeway, comparing the Lord to some pee-wee drunken/luzer, just doesn't get it. As for hell, on this side, anyone with a heart cannot understand, but on the other side, we will see things as they really are (last verse of Isaiah). Peeps, I've heard people go on about how holy they are, and how they're gonna make it; these same have no empathy for the lost. People like that creep me out.

    1. I like Dark Matter, he does bring up some good points about God as displayed in evangelical Christianity. I know his drunken narcissistic cartoon god character, is kind of a guy without a conscience, but when I read things like Ezekiel 9:9 where Yahweh orders babies and old people to be murderered and other things in the bible, and saw my own unanswered prayers--everyone died that was dying, I just don't believe anymore in this God that supposedly intervenes and actually cares. How will we see things as they really are? I remember on a Christian website once, I wrote this article saying Hell bothered me but human love and compassion should be bothered by hell and is it too much to want the God one worships to be more moral and kind then the average human who would not send people to burn for eternity? [only sociopaths]

This God shows no care, and I had to draw conclusions too that the God described in traditional evangelical/fundie Christianity is not really there. Honestly it's personality as displayed in the Bible alone [aka the threats of hell, the threats of blowing up the planet in Revelation and most of "lost" humanity on it, the dividing of humans into sheeps and goats and burning people for being the "wrong" religion or having sex 1 time too many for eternity, oh I was done Sue.

I have to be careful what I write here, as I know personally deconversion can be a painful thing, but where is God's [the Christian god's empathy] in making this world, life so brutal and then putting the burning charcoal suffering factory on the tail end of it for MOST. I am concerned about people's lack of empathy for the "lost" but then I realized God didn't have much empathy for them either, when they died and he supposedly send them to hell. I feel freedom in that I don't have to divide people between lost and saved, all that does is limit human connection and compassion too.

You do realize according to Christianity, I am supposed to be sent to the lowest level of hell and be assigned 7 times the demons for "falling away" LOL Think about it this way, do you want the Peep to burn in a giant flame forever? That means if you say no, you are NICER then the Christian and evangelical god.I worry about the people I hurt you know telling them they would end up in hell as a fundie. :(

You know I do have thoughts that if there is a God or higher power of some sort that I hope he is a lot nicer then the guy I got introduced to in evangelical/fundie Christianity. I'm scared of that fellow [don't believe he exists anymore] in every bad way you can imagine. The whole hell thing is a problem. Yeah be careful of those who claim they are "holy", they usually have the biggest skeletons in the closet.

    2. remember here too his main point is that the Christian evangelical God says, Love me or you go to hell aka Love me or you get beaten/burned aka the abusive boyfriend.

  3. Dear Peeps, to paraphrase what CS Lewis in his Mere Christianity said about hell: I don't like it, but I believe it. Peeps, I think hell is overkill even for narcs. But who am I! Just grungy clay, that's who.
Oh, and I forgot to mention. Pee-wee kept dredging up the past - even a past that his wife or girlfriend has turned from, and has NO desire to ever return to (like the bar scene).

  4. That's okay Sue, hey I believed in it a long time, I'm not here to give anyone a hard time. I have heard other Christians tell me in honesty hell troubles them too.
