Decades of Decline

Maybe next it will be cardboard boxes on the sidewalk for Generation Alpha. Things definitely been in a decline for a long time.

  1. This pretty much says it all! And I do know some from the younger generation who are living with roommates, especially in the more expensive cities.

    1. Yeah it does, just a steady decline downward. Some much older people now 40s etc, are having to live with roommates. I think before it was seen as a temporary thing when one was young. There are housing pages on Facebook now where seniors are looking for boarding house and roommate situations. Thanks Lise

  2. Oh you'll hear the boomers go on about (raspy voice) "in my day, we had roommates." Oh how quick these old farts forget, these days it's not smart to move in a roommate, or move in with someone. Maybe, trust issues (besides lack of $$) are key as to why so many people these days tend to go it alone. I can't recall the wise lady's name, but she warns women to be very careful of whom to allow in your home.

    1. It's not the same, now if a roommate leaves without notice your credit will be blown up because the bills are so high. Yes you have to fear violence, substance abuse, mental illness on a far higher level today too. Many people want to be safe at home. I lived with roommates when young, it was very very hard, even in those boarding houses. One lady who owned one boarding house was nice, I even returned there for a time but those are the exceptions out there. Yeah that lady was right to warn.
