And they would say
"Aargh I'm so fat" to the woman who is 500lbs or over.....which always blew my mind. I would say somthing look compared to me, someone who is 300lbs is THIN. It's usually a bad deal for me to be around someone who thinks they are fat at 180lbs and has to tell ultra-fat me about it. Sure I know 30lbs over the norm, I know trouble begins, I have empathy for that, but when I weigh this much, it doesn't make my life easier.
That is just rude and thoughtless when people do that! I think they have no idea how hard it is. Everyone needs to learn compassion for people who are different from them. I face a lot of judgement from my slim family for being a "mid size" person.
ReplyDeleteI go to weight watchers ( I know, probably wasting my time and money!) But I am eating a lot healthier now so that's a good thing. A lot of the ladies in the group don't even look overweight to me! So much pressure in our society to be slender.
I went to Weight Watchers for a time, I can't afford it now, but it blew my mind how all these thin people were there and there were no fat people. Out of 30 people I'd see maybe one person over 300lbs on a very rare occasion but most were not overweight. Sure some of them may be maintenance people but it was crazy. Glad you are eating healthier. Sorry your family is so judgmental.
DeleteSomebody is always going to turn things into a competition. I get accused of that because of the extreme nature of my mothers actions. But trust me on this one thing if there was any way I could go back and undo what my mother did to our family I would. But I can't so the next best thing is to keep telling people what happened, at least as a cautionary tale. If someone doesn't believe me it's not because I sugar coated her actions. And didn't warn them.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Some do turn it into a competition. It's crazy the I suffered more then you wars....there's worth in letting a life serve as a warning. I dealt with ones who don't believe me too.
