Say No to Data Centers!
Say no to Data Centers, they are bad news. They want to build these things all over my state even in remote towns no one has ever heard of. I may be joining a local group against these. I don't support AI. As I have written before, I will not knowingly use any AI, no one online is "AI pure" of course. This means refusing to use ChatGPT and using AI products. I try to use alternative search engines that are not hooked to AI.
Today someone told me about a new product, you can send a photograph in, and the AI will produce a paint by numbers painting kit for you. You get the board, the AI drawing with the assigned colors and everything! She had been given one as a gift. I said to her, "That's not real art!". She agreed and said her daughter meant well giving her the gift. It's scary how they are having AI interfere with the arts. I belong to artist boards against all generative AI on social media. If humanity loses art, do you realize the deeper meaning of this? There seems to be a descending laziness and where intellect, experimentation and creativity would all be shut down.
With the AI centers, realize they are part of a possible tech-control grid related to Digital ID and money. As the people in the video describe they are hell on the environment, the water shed, people's electric bills and land. I don't want any built near me. I am noticing some organizations doing AI promotion which worries me. None of this is improving our lives. As one guy says, we have a lot of other problems to spend this much money on. The electric grid is too rickety for this crap too. Look for your local groups against these data centers. Some states, they are building them ALL over, and when I mean all over, I mean dozens of the things in the most boondock area you could imagine! We don't want them. And as they show in one chart, who asked for all this AI garbage?

Who asked for these centers? Well, all the feral assholes strangling the economy with the weight of their make believe money -- that's the short answer. Entire books have already been dedicated to the long one. It makes pray for the so-called, oft-threatened "AI Bubble" to come sooner, rather than later, which might be one of the major correctives to stop it in its tracks, and right the ship. In the meantime, yeah, we'll have to raise all the hell we can to stop them from imposing their will in such remote corners as ours.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I think the feral overgrown little boys are only half the problem -- they would never have gotten as far as they did without all those naive little nudniks that they got to come along for the ride, at least partially. For example, I've been thinking of an interview that I edited of someone who was a prominent member of the so-called reform council that Google briefly dangled out there, to fool the public -- and she described, in great detail, how she went in there with all the best intentions, only to be rudely hushed up, and driven off the reservation, because their masterminds had no intention of reforming anything, let alone the business model that has greased all their obscene overdoggery. All through that chat, I kept thinking, "You're like the guy who wonders why someone scooped up that fifty dollar bill off the ground, before you even tried to bend over -- what did you think was gonna happen? They were gonna wait for you? Give you a sporting head start to catch up?" The naivete of the Oppenheimers of the world is a long and unhappy story, and one of the major reasons for our current skid, tech-wise -- as the DKs say, in "Well-Paid Scientist": "A PhD to show you're smart/With textbook formulas/But you're used up/Just like a factory hand." And to think, those lyrics came out in 1983! But they could just as easily come out today. --Mr. Peep
Yeah, it's the ultra rich conning the system and bought off politicians, and we have a serious problem around here with the politicians that support it. I won't be voting for one guy again definitely. Many believe AI is a hoax, a con and a scam, a way to scoop money. I have asked people "What does it do besides make bad art?" It's a waste of time and the grid can't support it either. Let's hope the AI bubble pops before they ruin more environments. The psychopaths get their bootlickers, and enablers to help bring forth plans no one wants. Yeah they often make appearances of caring or changing things but it's a way to fool people. Love that DK scientist song, LOL I should post it here. That one describes the Covid debacle to a tee too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr. Peep!
